Desde hace d\u00e9cadas, los estudios epidemiol\u00f3gicos y los ensayos cl\u00ednicos han ido acumulando evidencia sobre c\u00f3mo lo que comemos puede influir en la fertilidad, tanto masculina como femenina. En ese panorama, la dieta mediterr\u00e1nea ocupa un lugar destacado.<\/p>\n<h2>Por qu\u00e9 la dieta influye en la fertilidad<\/h2>\n<p>La reproducci\u00f3n requiere un equilibrio hormonal preciso, buena calidad del material gen\u00e9tico y un entorno uterino receptivo. La alimentaci\u00f3n interviene en todos estos aspectos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Los <strong>\u00e1cidos grasos omega-3<\/strong> son componentes esenciales de las membranas de \u00f3vulos y espermatozoides<\/li>\n<li>Los <strong>antioxidantes<\/strong> (vitamina C, E, zinc, selenio) protegen el ADN esperm\u00e1tico y la integridad del \u00f3vulo<\/li>\n<li>El <strong>\u00e1cido f\u00f3lico<\/strong> es fundamental para la s\u00edntesis de ADN; su d\u00e9ficit se asocia con peor calidad esperm\u00e1tica y ov\u00e1rica<\/li>\n<li>El <strong>\u00edndice gluc\u00e9mico<\/strong> de la dieta influye en la sensibilidad a la insulina, especialmente relevante en el s\u00edndrome de ovario poliqu\u00edstico<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>La dieta mediterr\u00e1nea y los estudios de Harvard<\/h2>\n<p>El Nurses&#8217; Health Study de la Escuela de Salud P\u00fablica de Harvard, basado en el seguimiento de m\u00e1s de 18.000 mujeres, encontr\u00f3 que las que segu\u00edan un patr\u00f3n rico en grasas monoinsaturadas, prote\u00ednas vegetales y l\u00e1cteos enteros ten\u00edan menor incidencia de infertilidad ovulatoria. Este patr\u00f3n se superpone en gran medida con la dieta mediterr\u00e1nea tradicional.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a la fertilidad masculina, el aceite de oliva virgen extra destaca por sus polifenoles antioxidantes.
