Sin embargo, en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os la investigaci\u00f3n ha abierto una v\u00eda experimental que podr\u00eda cambiar el panorama para algunos de estos pacientes.<\/p>\n<h2>Qu\u00e9 es la ROSI<\/h2>\n<p>La ROSI (Round Spermatid Injection, inyecci\u00f3n intracitopl\u00e1smica de esperm\u00e1tidas redondas) consiste en utilizar c\u00e9lulas germinales muy inmaduras, precursoras de los espermatozoides, extra\u00eddas directamente mediante biopsia testicular. Estas c\u00e9lulas, que todav\u00eda no tienen la forma ni la cola del espermatozoide maduro, se inyectan directamente en el \u00f3vulo.<\/p>\n<p>La t\u00e9cnica fue descrita en la d\u00e9cada de los 90, pero durante mucho tiempo se consider\u00f3 poco eficiente. Un estudio publicado por bi\u00f3logos japoneses cambi\u00f3 parcialmente esa percepci\u00f3n: 12 parejas en las que se hab\u00edan diagnosticado como est\u00e9riles participaron en el estudio, y se consigui\u00f3 el nacimiento de 14 ni\u00f1os sanos. Todos los ni\u00f1os nacidos fueron evaluados f\u00edsica e intelectualmente sin que se encontraran alteraciones.<\/p>\n<h2>Por qu\u00e9 la azoospermia no obstructiva es un reto diferente<\/h2>\n<p>En la azoospermia obstructiva, los test\u00edculos producen espermatozoides pero existe una obstrucci\u00f3n que impide su salida. En estos casos, la recuperaci\u00f3n quir\u00fargica de espermatozoides (TESE o MESA) tiene altas tasas de \u00e9xito y permite utilizarlos en ICSI convencional.<\/p>\n<p>En la azoospermia no obstructiva, el problema es que los test\u00edculos no producen espermatozoides maduros. La microTESE permite en algunos casos encontrar peque\u00f1as bolsas de producci\u00f3n esperm\u00e1tica. Pero cuando incluso esto falla, la ROSI representar\u00eda una \u00faltima alternativa antes de la donaci\u00f3n de semen.<\/p>\n<h2>El estado actual de la ROSI<\/h2>\n<p>La ROSI sigue siendo una t\u00e9cnica experimental. Las tasas de embarazo son m\u00e1s bajas que con ICSI convencional, y los estudios de seguimiento a largo plazo de los ni\u00f1os nacidos son todav\u00eda limitados.
